"would not return! shabby and dirty "
the highlight of my stay was a lovely gentleman at reception (older man slightly rounded) who was fantastic and extremely helpful on a pretty ordinary day on check in. he is also the reason that this star rating is not lower! to be quite honest there is not much positive I can say about my stay. My room is tiny, no room for a suitcase to be opened, unless it's on the bed, the wall is dirty and stained and there is mold in the shower. the shower is over the bath and I cannot for the life of me understand why the shower head is not at the end of the recess instead of on the side with a tiny space between that and the single glass partition!! the air con is good but again badly positioned so I didn't get the full benefit. the bed is a little soft for me and the pillows are lumpy.... the hotel is very secure with swipe card access but again a simple design fault made it very difficult to take bags to the room - the door opened outwards onto stairs, so it was extremely difficult to maneuver a suitcase without hitting the door or dropping the case. the breakfast is standard buffet, not enough fresh fruits and average at best. the position is central which apart from the lovely man at reception was the only positive for this hotel. I would not return to the hotel to stay

"Perfect location "
Went there 24-26 August. Its 2 hotels in one. In the front its Hampshire (4 stars) & in the back is Eden Hotel (3 stars). We stayed in the 4 stars. Its the perfect location!! Its in literally in the city center, w/lots of restaurants & bars within 1 or 2 min. The rooms are nice, even though we booked a Queen bed, it was really 2 twin beds together & the towels are not in that good shape, but other than that, it is a good average hotel with a perfect location. If you want to go to the Red District its a good 15-20 min walk, but the sights are pretty, so its worth it. Definitely if ever again in Amsterdam, will stay here again.

"Very Average but Good Location"
Felt the hotel itself was a bit "tardy" and rather average for the price. Bad first impression with front entrance way glass broken which remained like that for the 3 week nights we were there - surely management would have seen that as a priority? Decor / ambience also very average - a bit cold and impersonal, foyer and room. That said, the room was comfortable, fairly spacious and very quiet given the central location - also clean. A pleasant surprise was the hotel's Flo Bar which was warm & welcoming with good music and friendly bar staff, a real contrast to the main hotel. Not enough positives to make this the hotel of choice on return visits.
